Each focuses on a different part of the plant - Roots-shoot-fruits (if I
recall
correctly).
Nitrogen (roots) - promotes root growth.
Phosphorus ( shoots) - promotes stem and leaf growth
Potassium (fruits) - drives fruit and flower growth.
Nitrogen is your green leaf/new growth producer, a higher Phosphorous
promotes blooms and fruits, and Potassium does a lot of things being a
general cell builder. That's my backyard gardening version- I wonder if
aquatic plants are the same?
