Ouch, I feel your pain. My son-in-law's 6-yr-old played with mine, but
in a glass tank, so all I have to do is retrieve the inner magnet
eventually...

Glass can scratch too, if you get sand in between the
magnet and the glass.

Try the micromesh for the acrylic.
