What kind of fertilizer do you use? Right now I am using (2) 18" lights
that said they "promote" plant growth from the pet store. Personally, I do
not think they help at all. "PowerGlo" or something like that. They
obviosuly do not help. They are only a few months old. I have never
fertilizer.

I have enjoyed putting live plants in our 55 gallon aquarium. The
aquarium gets no sunlight though and the plants only seem to last 2-3
months. Luckily we have a 10 gallon tank pretty much right in the
sunlight, so I move them to the smaller tank when they get to looking bad
and they spring right up in 2 weeks or so and then I move them back. But
is there any way I can help keep them alive in the larger tank with no
sunlight? Do the lights that say they help plants grow actually work?
===========================
What kind of lights do you have over your 55g tanks? The ones that come
with the tanks are inadequate to keep most plants alive. I have four 40w
florescent bulbs over each of my two 55g tanks. Some plants do well and
others don't. While the hornwart, Java moss, American vals and elodia
(pond weed) thrive, my Amazon Swords are barely hanging on.
Plants kept in aquariums also need to be fertilized.
