Covering Powerheads

What is everyone using to cover their powerheads to prevent anemone accidents? I use sponges to cover my Hagen's, but they are a
pain. Anyone doing it another way?
I flipped mine upside down, so they suck from the top instead of the
bottom. My anemones have given up glass climbing for the moment, but I
was planning to use fiber or similar w/ rubber bands. I haven't found a
sponge that would work that well accept that some powerheads come with
extended uptakes to house the sponge. This might reduce suction enough
to avoid anemone death.
My ritteri finally found a perch with a lot of flow. I would never have
guessed that they would like that much current, but he's stayed put
within 48 hrs of adding new power heads.
