Coralife Needle Wheel Skimmer Question - more insults from Roy Tristan Hauer
Roy "Tristin" Hauer suffering low self-esteem, net-stalker of old ladies
wrote nothing of value or interest to anyone
and was promptly slapped down by a dead sponge in message

hmmmmmmmm
Totally amazing to me. I happen to have 6 CSS skimmers adn they have
yet to screw up or not do what they are diesigned to do. Sounds more
like the skimmer is smarter than the consumer....and the regulars here
are clueless.....
Never ending insults in your hopeless quest to look superior or even equal
to others. Get back into treatment. No one here can help you. We're not
qualified.

Here's my experience, take it for what you will. I've been battling
with this particular skimmer for over a year now, I'm near replacing
it.
But over the last week it's produced zero bubbles, so here's what I
did to solve it. First I don't think that your silencer is the issue,
I
think I noticed mine is uni-directional, so that it may seem blocked,
but try sucking instead of blowing. But I digress, I find that moving
the pump closer to the surface of the water allows it to take on
bubbles
either with or without the silencer, but it is good and loud
without.
I don't know that I want to officially recommend snipping the tubing
on your pump(the one that feeds to the skimmer) but it worked for me.
I
assume it's easily replacable at any local home improvement store if
it
gets messed up.
Other issues I find with the CSS, bubble diffuser is absolutely
worthless. Occasionally it would get tempermental and fill itself up
with no real warning, and leak all over my floor as it has no reason
not
to pour out the top. I've been trying to fix the problems as they
come,
but it's annoying, keeping the water level where it's supposed to be
is
not super fun. And the instructions and website mention none of this.

I have a Coralife Skimmer,it's the 220 gallon model.There are no
micro bubbles being produced, and there is no skimmate.I checked the
"silencer" that has a tube running down to the venturi at the
pump. There is no air flow through this silencer, through either
nipple on it.It's a round piece of plastic, with two "nipples" on the
top of it.When I disconnect the tubing, and let it suck air it
appears to run normally, but the skimmate is WAY to wet,and the level
rises too high.Any help would be appreciated, the website is useless.
