You're wrong about the USA. What cut smoking was the increased cost
of health insurance for smokers and the cost of cigarettes
themselves. Here in NYC USA they're $8 a pack. That's a PACK, not a
carton. People simply couldn't afford to smoke anymore. Stigmatizing
smoking had nothing to do with it.
You're wrong. The smoking rate amongst adults in the US declined
drastically before the present steep taxation of cigarettes.
