Next time I shut it off I'll have to switch my output/input meters and
see if there is a difference.

It depends on the unit you may be talking about. Many of the newer ones have
vertical DI housings to help eliminate the channeling effect and also better
contact through the media. My old unit had a horizontal DI canister and my
newer unit has a larger vertical unit that works much better and less
channeling.

It will show the smaller units with horizontal and the larger units with
vertical canisters. I use the OCEAN REEF + 1 FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI and
although it costs more it puts out 60-65gpd and still has 0 TDS by unit
meter and handheld meter after 4 mths of use
