My Angelfish have just laid eggs on a amazon sword left!! The question
is what shall I do now. I want to leave the eggs in there but maxamise
the chance of hatching. I have read several things on the internet
darkness reduces fungus
angelfish and other fish might eat the eggs at night so i would leave
a 'night light' for them
higher temps mean it will hatch faster....
So this is what i plan on doing...turning them temp up by 1-2 degrees
for now. Set up a dimmer light for the eggs tonight and hope for the
best. Anything else I can do to help?
Also the male is VERY torn up..he has lost 30% of his scales is there
anything I can do for him?
There's a fellow on
http://groups.google.ca/group/The-Freshwater-Aquarium
who has been breeding lots of Angelfish lately and he could give you
much better advice than me.
In a nutshell, isolate your male so that he can recover, and be ready
with fry food if any of the fry get to free-swimming, though if there
are other fish in the tank, it's unlikely to happen.
Angelfish are notoriously poor with their 1st brood, either poorly
fertilized or one or the other eats the eggs at some point. With
practice they usually improve.
