"Therapon jarubua
These fishes, which are also known as Tigerfishes or Crescent Perches, are
equally at home in pure salt water or brackish water, and although they may
be maintained successfully in fresh water they seldom appear to be fully at
ease. They are probably the hardiest of all fishes that can be kept in a sea
aquarium, feeding with great exuberance on all foods. They can become rather
boisterous and may subdue the more delicate true reef fishes such as the
butterfly fishes so that they hide and slowly starve to death. They are
usually low-priced and so are an excellent first choice for the novice
aquarist. They are not brilliantly coloured but because they frequently
school, a dozen or so in a large tank is an impressive sight."
