Had two red comets in a tank one of them has died. Will the one remaining
fish be ok or should we get a replacement for the one that died? I don't
want to put another goldfish in if it is at all possible as the tank is
only 5 gallons but if the remaining fish is going to "pine"...

I would get at least a 20g tank and then buy another goldfish to keep him
company. Goldfish are not small fish. Commets can reach almost a foot in
length when healthy and well care for.
