Hi there.
Many household plants will stay looking nice for quite a while, but
there are some that die quick like the Palm type.
As soon as you see any discoloration on the leaves remove the plant
and put into some dirt.
There used to be a trend a while back using common houseplants as
"aquatic" plants.
It was a costly mistake, as the plant would die if kept submerged
completely.
Just out of curiosity, did you leave any of the spider plant's babies
hanging from the mother plant?
I used to have a huge one with baby spidies. It was so pretty.


I cut three of the largest babies from the mother plant (two foot long
leaves).
Then put the root end in shells to sink them to the bottom.
The roots have grown about three inches so far.

The mother is a very aggressive grower and has many more babies.
The large green plant I have has 3 ft long solid green leaves and quickly
takes over the living room if allowed.

So far the babies in the aquarium seem very healthy and growing.
The fish seem to be happy with the plant.

I noticed that the algae growth has diminished to almost nothing.
