Verizon used to provide newsgroups, but it looks
like they don't anymore. A large number of internet
providers don't provide newsgroups anymore. That's
not a problem, because you can get your newsgroups
direct from a newsgroup provider.
You can get newsgroups in your Thunderbird, through
Motzarella.com
Motzarella is what I use the most. Motzarella is
free, you just need to go there and sign up.

Well, when I set up news on T-bird, I have to enter the server name in
the "Server Settings" section of the "Account Settings" screen. I had to
call Verizon to get that info. Perhaps that's what he means.
