Default Be aware of light kits purchased from AH Supply

They are not quite the same as they were a year or two back. THey are
however probably the best value for the buck and the reflectors are
top notch, as is the Fulham Work Horse electronic ballasts. The big
change is the waterproof or moisture proof socket
covers............They just plain suck. The old ones used to be a soft
pliable rubber that fit snuggly onthe CF bulbs base. The new ones are
a harder, barely flexible vynil material that does not even come close
to making a seal and just basically gives the appearance of what a
typical moistureproof socket cover is. Its not goinog to do a thing,
to sealout moisture. On top of that its impossible to get a straight
pin bulb to enter the socket as there is just a slight discrepancy
inthe placement of the sockets connectors...so its necessary to bend
the bulbs one outer contact pin inwards.....Overall though the kits
are still worth the money. I just finished 4 hoods for people and used
AH Supplys retro kits. The hoods are all constructed out of formed
acrylic, with built in cooling fans etc, with the ballasts mounted
externally along with a heat sink......Range in size form a 47 gal
bowfront to a 115 gal tank..........
