what type of PS do you have Peter Pan?

I've got a Remora(45) and a Sapphire(30)

When I talked to the LFS (the guy from the Indonesia) said the red slime
only grows where the water isn't circulating. Because it's such a low
nutrient bacteria the nitrate level will only bring production down not
eliminate. I really think the phosphates are not effecting it because
I've checked phosphates here and at the LFS. Same results: 0.Because I
use RO and DI water and was(!) changing so often. But it could come from
the coral~life salt.

I don't get the real expensive salt. I get the one with mag and cal
added. keep salinity at 1.025

I think the name if the PS is Coral Reef (I cant remember) Im clean the
collection cup every one to two days. I think Wayne is right, once I get
some corals, they will absorb some of the nitrates and I will have less of
a headache. I'm also doing more frequent partials

everything in the 45 is really starting to grow. maybe why my nitrates are
so low.

i checked our PS real carefully before I it. The Sapphire is the only one
that will fit in the 30 but the Remora was supposed to be the best hang-on
at lowering nitrates. It works good when you clean it :P

for about the first three months i rarely cleaned it and wondered why my
nitrates were so high all the time. What a relief.
