OIC and thank you for the heads up. I never saw anything because I am
on a webtv and we never get any pop ups at all. We can't upload
anything on this and do not have cookies. When I look at my site on my
pc I never get pop ups there either because I have a pop up stopper to
catch that kind of stuff. I will look in to this and see what I can do
to keep others from having to worry about their privacy. Thank you
again for the information.
Vicki
It's the price you pay for your free web hosting with "250free". The
host automatically tries to install the notorious "Gator" spyware on all
of your visitor's computers.
Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news as you seem genuinely unaware of
it. You probably inadvertantly loaded the Gator program long ago which
would explain why you never see it when visiting your own site. The
Gator "cookie" on your computer already has you flagged as a Gator
victim.
Gatorware is an invasive, privacy violating software "ramora" that no
one in their right mind would want in their computer. It's pops up as a
utility plug-in and looks to newbies like something they might "need" to
load to better view your site.
If you truly can't afford decent hosting and are compelled to use that
"free" service, and you want to entice people to visit, you might
consider, as a basic courtesy, at least warning people to Say No to the
Gator plug-in when it pops up.
