I have a 2000 gal pond with an EPDM liner. When it rains the ground water pushes the liner up and pond water is pushed out of the pond. I have lost two batches of fish this way.

I am considering digging a hole at the deepest point of the pond under the liner and putting a 10 gal galvanized trash can in it surronded by gravel. The can would have holes drilled in it to let water in. I would put a dirty water pump with a switch thst turns on when water is present and off when absent. The pump would be plumbed outside the pond.

Any thougts on this? Will it work? Do you have other ideas? Thanks in advance for and help you can give.

I've heard of this happening, I know Water Gardening magazine had an
article on it. You might check the archives of Koi USA or google for
answers. I do think you're on to something with your plan.

I seem to remember that just having piping under the liner and lower than
the pond surface forced the water out the pipes, but can't be sure on that,
has been a long time.

What did you do, did you find an answer now that I notice this post is 2
months old?
