I've put a 2ft tank on ordinary household furniture (with a piece
of board under it) and that's been fine. As long as whatever the
furniture is can hold my weight I think it's ok within reason.
I built a cab for my 4ft though. As long as it's higher than the
cat and sufficiently lidded that he can jump on and off without
catching any fish, it's ok for my household
