Thanks for the note-
I had an airestone under the pane of glass I attached the leaf to -
water circulated but didn't disrupt the leaf\eggs. the eggs turned
white from 2-4 days. I believe the pair are a "pair" but I didn't
watch the breeding event and I was very surprised at the occurrance.

Are there alternatives to meth blue?

You let the parents keep them clean (the fanning and picking off debris).
