Default What other fish do you have with your cichlids?

Cool, thanks for the info. I've recently done a full cleaning of my
100G and I've decided that I'm going to try for a South American
Cichlid tank instead of African this time around.

So far I've purchased two Oscars. Do you think they would devour
Angles also? Any suggestions for South American's that I could mix
with my oscars?

Thanks!
Ryan

How do Angle Fish do with Africans?

If you mean "Angelfish" the answer is depends, but not
something I personally would recommend. Africans
thrive in hard alkaline water (assuming we're talking
Mbunas and the like) and range from somewhat aggressive
to insanely ultraviolent.

Angels originally came from soft, acid river water, but
can accept a huge range of water conditions. Having said
that, African Rift-type water is really at the extreme and
they will not thrive. Although they can be aggressive with
each other, especially when spawning, they are very,
very gentle for cichlids.

Based only on second-hand experiences and general
knowledge, I wouldn't mix them. Having said that,
I'm sure someone will post that they've been doing this
for decades. But in this kind of setup, one or the other
variety will get the short straw and sub-optimal
conditions.
