Hi,
I finally found my bill with all the facts: Here goes:
My last bill was for 61 days. I set up two tanks in this time and has a
turtle tank that has been running for almost a year. I actually removed
the
turtle heater and used it for the smaller fish tank. Things that I
brought
online in this time a 1 250 watt Ebo Jager heater for a 55 gallon
tank,
1 XP3 filter (pull about 28 watts), 2 Hagen powerheads and one Whisper
10
filter (for a 5 gallon tank) and 4 32 watt fluorescent bulbs.
My actual usage was 2847 KWH and last year it was 1759. I used 508 KWH
at
.1249 and 2339 KWH at .1179. I pulled last year's bill for this time
period
and my usage was only 1553 KWH.
Since I setup my 55 gallon tank my usage has doubled. My wife started
blow
drying her hair but that is only for 5 minutes each morning. I'm
totally dazed by this new bill and am not sure what to think. Any
advice
would be appreciated.
I have had similar problems. I am convinced that the electric company
is
dishonest. I have pulled documents, had investigations, etc. but they
always say something had to change in my situation. What? Little did.
I
think they are crooks. Or something is wrong elsehwere.
They tell me: It's your refrigerator: I say: Hasn't changed in 3
years.
Well, you have more stuff in the refrigerator: Hasn't changed.
Do you have air conditioning: Yes, hasn't changed. Has been serviced
and
verified efficient.
You must have more lights on...I was gone for two months, with power
off...explain that....they left without comment.
If your bill is for two months, you probably have California
electric....
Do you guys not have meters on your property (or on the boundary)?
We do in the UK, so we can work out from the bill and the meter if what
they are billing for is right, and then if it is, you know there *is*
something that's sucking more juice than there used to be.
One meter per house/dwelling/flat.
If this isn't the case out there, how on earth do they have ANY idea how
much you're using?

We have a meter per unit. They are, however here, locked up and cannot be
read by the tenants.
Ah, that might be understandable if you don't own the place but are
renting (not all tenants are trustworthy etc). Is it the leccy company
that holds the keys, or building maintenance/owner etc? might be worth
a chat to the latter to see if they'll let you take a reading in their
presence, given the circumstances.
