I'm not sure how well the earlier text description I gave you matches the

Now what's this about my socks? ... or do I even want to know?
The web page is great - shows it much better than just the dexription you
sent.
About the socks - its just that I noticed in that picture of you on your
site you were not wearing any shoes!!!!!!!
Also I have just read your page about the auto gravel vac and the
backflushing tank draining plumbing for a canister filter. I had heard you
mention this before on the groups but seeing your diagrams puts it into
much better perspective. I will probably add something similar to my tank.
I think I have one correction for you wher you mention that a cannister
can drain till the level of its intake if it gets a leak. To prevent this
happening you mentioned drill a hole just above the water line. The hole
should be a little bit bel;ow the water line so that it will start to suck
air only when the water level drops - then it will break the siphon and
you whole tank won't drain. If the hole is above the water line you will
never get the siphon to start. Once again I have not doen this but have
read about it on other sites
Keep on adding the DIY stuff
