It seems to be a common theme recently. My filter died recently as
well, however it was only discovered last night at about 11pm. So
today, I will be picking up a new one. Any recommendations??
My current tank is a 10 gallon Top Fin. I had a Top Fin 10 filter on
there, but would like to change to something in which the filter
media is seperate from the bacteria colony.

I recommend the penguin filters. Very reliable... I like that the plastic
doesnt crack easily if hit or dropped... very nice!!
I have been running a Penquin Bio-Wheel Mini Filter in my 10 gallon
for almost a year with no problems. The next largest size was too big
to fit the opening on the tank cover. The Bio-Wheel is nicely covered
with the gunk it needs and my water quality has been right on. Quiet,
too.
