It's not. A Jaguar cichlid is a Managuense. I have one of those.
The mystery cichlid died last night . The medicine had no impact on him
unless it was too late. I hope that it will help the rest of the fish which
appear okay with the exception of one firemouth. There is a big white
growth from his right nostril even though he is eating and being quite
lively!

Thanks for trying Bob. And thank you for the compliment. The fish is

about
2.5" inches long. He's not doing well. When we introduced him to the

tank,
he was very defensive and was going for every thing that moved. Several
days later he retreated to the top of the tank and his breathing

appeared
labored. Today, he hasn't eaten and there is a big (Fungus) gash in the

mid
of his body. He is also being picked on by the other fish, so I'm going

to
take him out. As of last night I started the tank on Maracyn (Mardel)

and
Maroxy (Mardel). I looked at some photos of the Herichthys carpinte

that
are available online, my fish does not look like them.

Thank you,
Mariana

My fault, somehow that folder was marked private .... anyways, they

are
in
there now.

Apologies and please take a look again,
Mariana

Excellent photos!
--- Not a jewel. .. those white dots should give it away, but I

don't
recognize it.
from the shape of it pointed snout, it looks to be a juvenile

fish.
How long is it? It may be a juvenile Herichthys carpinte - but

not
having
seen juveniles of those, I'm not very sure. Adult carpinte

have
a
rich
blue-green background color with the same white dots all over.

If it is a juvenile, it will change in shape and in color as it
grows.
