have you considered that this fish might be a hybrid? The possibility is not
remote, when purchasing from an LFS. That might explain the difficulty in
identifying it.

There is no P. magpie in any of the references. There is a Metriaclima
zebra
that has an OB "orange blotched" pattern that is sometimes called magpie,
but
the mouth shape would never be confused with a Labeotropheus. If your
fish has
an OB pattern and the mouth is slightly underslung, but not anything like
the
mouth of a Labeotropheus, I'd guess your fish is Tropheops tropheops OB
or
Tropheops sp. "chinayamwezi" OB as pictured here.
