I live in garden grove, california and I am thinking about building
a
pond. If you are not familiar with california, I live south of LA
about
2 hours from the mexican border. The pond I hope to build will be
several thousand gallons. I'm thinking about 10*20 feet and about 3
feet
deep, this is just a rough estimate, and by my calcuations comes out
to
about 4500 gallons. It is usually pretty warm here but can drop into
the
40's in the winter. What would be (in your opinion) the most
interesting
fish I could keep in a pond of this size, and in this climate? It
might
be a year of so till I actually build this pond, but I'm curious to
what
you guys think. I know this is a hard question, but I just wanna
know
what you think would be best in my climate.
TIA, Josh
Sorry wrong NG.
Hey Josh, I have heard of people actually keeping Electric Blue Haps in
the
ponds during the spring and summer time.. I have a suggestion for a
place
you can visit though if Koi is what you are thinking.. You need to do a
search for a store called Mystic Koi in Upland on Mountain and Arrow.
He
has some very nice fish and it is certainly a place to visit, I believe
they
are closed on Wensdays.. Here is a link to thier website..
http://mystickoi.com/ I am not connected to these people in any way,
other
than I have been through thier Gardens on a few occasions...
Tim...
Thanks for the relpy Tim
Josh
Hey Josh, don't be alarmed by thier online pricing eithier.. They do offer
some very nice Koi even around the $20 dollar range... The ones I have seen
are very nice fish, better than what we can get from the local chain stores
for just a little more...I do hope you are encouraged to take the trip,
although it is a few miles for you to go, I really think it is a trip worth
while..
