I disagree with Richard here, 3x55 PC is just like having a 165w heater
sitting in your canopy. while this may not be much of a factor on a 200
gallon tank, it certainly is on a 37.

woohoo fun!!! i say its more like a 100w heater but ok werks for me. its still not that
much even at 165w ive done more and countered it with a fan or two. as "not that much" is
a relative statement its not that much compaired to 2 175w mh's and 1 55wPC and 3 20w NO's
also a note his UV is probibly another unknown and its enclosed so no air to keep the
transfer of heat down.

on my 29 I have 4x55w pc and it caused a tremendous amount of heat transfer
to the water when they were on. within 4 hours of lights on the tank temp
would rise from 77 to 84. with the addition of two 3" fans that are on the
same timer as the lights, the tank temp is constant at 79-80. evaporation
is approximately 1/2 gallon per day.

oooh small fan my smallest is a set of 4" across the lights, and a 8" on top of the sump
my evaporation is a little higher ok more like ALOT but temp stays about 79~80

just this week I replaced the 110w of PC over my 75 gallon FO with 800w of
MH in a conversion to a reef. the tank temp over the past 16 months with
the pc lighting has always remained at 82-84, with the 800w MHs and six of
the 3" fans (3 pushing cool air in and 3 pulling hot air out) the tank has
actually cooled to 79-80. this is a good plug for fans as a cheap way to
cool your tank. fact is they work.

last summer i ran my 37T with those lights, this summer is different I have a 37T with
only 2 NO and 1 175w MH and my 150XH plumbed together and the lights for the 150 are on
kinda a minum duty (1 175mh, with 2 250w's turned off for now) because i dont have corals
in it yet. just enough to aid in coraline growth. the 37 is going to be just for fish &
softies and the 150 will hold some softies along with some stony corals and only a few
fish. i do like using fans to chill things, chillers cost tooooo much not only in
initial cost, but they kill your E-bill
