Not to contradict INgrid exactly, because she may be right for all I know, but loss of motor function across most or all of one whole side of the body sounds more like a brain attack (stroke) than a heart attack.
Hemiplegia or hemipariesis -
http://sprojects.mmi.mcgill.ca/gait/...egic/intro.asp
Injury to one side of the brain (bleed or clot) will almost always render motor function on the opposite side of the body damaged or inoperable.
(Speech is typically impaired too if you're human - not so much if you're a goldfish.)
Lots of other issue too - but I digress.
Rehab/recovery from a stroke to a significant quality of life? Dicey even for an otherwise healthy, determined, sentient human undergoing rigorous therapies. But for a goldfish to recover from a stroke - probably not. At least not without respiratory therapy...
Sorry
But I do suggest you add air.

could be heart attack. look for blood at base of pectoral fin. could be it got
stuck somewhere and in thrashing around hurt the spinal chord. Ingrid

Hi Everyone,
Two days ago one of my gold fish for some reason has lost the use of its
back half of its body and its right front fin.
Its dorsal fin seems to move fine so does its right front fin and fins
underneath. It seems to be spending alot of time in a 4 inch pipe I have in
my tank I think to get away from turbulence of the filter. It can also only
swim to the left.
When feeding time comes around it doesn't get very much food as the other
fish are much faster. I have fed it some small pieces of chicken the last 2
days as it can sink and the fish is able to eat it and pass it.
Im quite happy to take extra effort in looking after the fish but would it
be more humane to let it die?
cheers
Scott
