What I would like to point out is that this attitude is so hypocritical
in my opinion. Not Caps view in particular, just the whole "fish killer"
idea. I have seen and am sure many of you have seen the all but deplorable
conditions maintained in virtually all aquarium live stock supply outlets.
Now it could be argued that some places are better than others. Many may
even say such things as "how could so and so be successful breeders/shop
owners/importers/etc. if the conditions were so bad". I would answer that
while this seems true it appears to me that the level of care aquarium
livestock receives is directly proportional to the cost (or perceived value)
of such livestock. The more expensive the animals they loose to ignorance
the higher the costs seem to go for the rest of us. This goes all the way
from the original handling to the suppliers to the LFS's. Many times it
reminds me of the conditions that children would keep lightning bugs for
example. In a jar with holes poked in the top and maybe a little grass.
They don't live long but they are not "supposed" to. Yet they don't stop
their blinking for quite some time do they?
Then there is the theory (currently debated scientific BS) that fish do
not have the ability to feel pain and therefor cannot possibly be
mistreated. For whatever reason this was established I do not know. What I
do know is that this seems to be the guise that allows aquarium livestock
dealers of all types to "get away" with this sort of treatment and by
default these attitudes are readily past on to the consumers.
So my opinion is that if anyone is so aggravated at the situation. Or
the flushing/freezing/culling of one or several fish/corals/aquarium
livestock is so evil a concept. Go picket a LFS, educate consumers, get
some petitions going, write some legislation, rant and rave at the
commercial fishing industry, or just shut the hell up and quit picking on
individuals that happen to make an honest error.
I'll dismount the podium and return it to the group now.

CapFusion,
Sounds like good advice. Thanks. It just irks me. I don't like being
treated like a fish killer. I try to give them a good home knowing that
they have been rudely removed from their real homes, but I don't have any
emotional attachment to them. I mean I eat fish and I go deep sea
fishing,
does this make me a bad person? lets face it there is a big difference
between a fish and a dog.
Anyway enough said, time to move on.
Thanks.

Ignore them. Lurk and Speak as you wish not how they wish.
Telling everyone about flushing down a fish in this hobby will cause
much
attention regarding of animal. People will get emotional or senisitive
toward this behavior. Try post this in hunting and game or similar
group.
I
but they will have a different attitude.
Everyone or body go into aquarium have different purpose or idea
regarding
animal care. Some will care for the animal deeply and other just want
their
display to look nice to impress themself or for other. So there will be
a
clash between these two group.
