My vet told me that antibiotics in the water don't do much good for an
infection in the fish, they will kill stuff in the water.

there are various medicated foods, if I were going to use one I would
get them from Dr. Johnson's place, www.koivet.com

Thanks--I checked out the site. One LFS was a little rude when I suggested
that medicated foods might be more effective than antibotics in the water.

I don't know if the product you mentioned (which appears designed for koi)
would work for me, or even if my fish would eat it. I haven't found
anything
like that locally--I'll look around a bit more.

Get some freeze dried food and soak it in a little of the antibiotic, then
feed your fish with that. will get the med right in him.
