OK, I wimped out, didn't go with the Potassium Permanganate. I did not want
to wipe out the Biofilter, as some had suggested. So I picked up some
Pimafix and Melafix for the boys. Only the one large fish has a noticeable
fungal infection (fuzzy white spot on his snout, but the others are showing
signs of a secondary bacterial infection. I applied 7 tsps of the Pimafix
yesterday and a good deal of the fuzz was gone this morning. I thought I saw
a brown spot of the center of the fungus this morning. I applied a second
dose of Pimafix this afternoon and the brown spot is gone. Now there is just
a hole where the white fuzz had been, like a bad zit.

The Pimafix says to apply for seven days, but I've noticed that this stuff
really freaks the fish out when you add it. Does this stuff sting or is it
just the smell that bothers them? Secondly, the blurb says I can use the
Melafix and Pimafix together. What's the Melafix going to do for me (the
fishies) that Pimafix does not.
