Got a tank of swordtails raised from fry, along with three danios and an
ancistrus catfish (I think that's what it is, looks like a small pleco).
Recently added three females to even out the male/female balance, and now
signs of ick are starting to show, a few white spots on the fins and near
the tail. I'm going to go into town today to get the chemicals, how and

what should I be treating them?

Quick Cure is great for killing the Ich parasite quickly.
However, it's toxic to some inhabitants, such as Snails, Loaches, aquatic
amphibians, and harsh but not deadly on tetras...those you would half
dose.
Folks have said half dosing Clown Loaches is fine, but I have lost them on
2
different occasions half dosing them...and on a 3rd occasion the Loach
died
from the Ich before the half dosage could kill the Ich.
Of course you didn't mention having these fish in your tank, but it very
good
to know in general.

I ended up getting the Interpet "Aquarium Treatment 6" which is for white
spot. It is a very deep blue formaldehyde based chemical that even well
diluted has tinted my aquarium water. It says to repeat the treatment in
four days. Do I have to change the water completely before I do that, and is
it OK to do a third treatment after another four days just in case? Also
turned the heater up 2C.

You'd never change out all the water.
I like to do a 25% water change in between a repeat treatment.
Make sure any carbon is removed from your filter/s.
Oh...Quick Cure is Formalin (aka formaldehyde) and Malachite green.
It's probably the same as your med.
Q.C. is also pretty cheap compaired to meds with the same ingredients.
