melafix types are medications that impact on the gills and all medications should be
used with caution but especially with fry. a bit of salt and clean water and the
fish will come around or it wont.
melafix types are a current version of a very old medication that was used in the
past or I should say people didnt use it much since there were other things that were
less toxic and worked better. one problem with melafix type meds is they can cause
the outer epithelium tissue to heal over even when there is a bacterial infection
going on in the tissue underneath. this is not a good outcome.

all medications have side effects so the balance is benefit to cost ratio. fresh
water and a bit of salt is all benefit, no cost. from there on everything got cost
in terms of harm to some part of the fish. For example: malachite green and its
breakdown compound(s) are mutagenic.
so treat with the least caustic medication and treat specifically instead of using a
shotgun approach of just tossing everything into the water. many of the meds have
bad drug interactions.

scales and scrapes and all those types of injuries...The bottle doesnt say
that you cant treat fry so I assume it would be safe o them..
