oh.. you must use dechlor for city water. unless you have some kinda system like RO
and then gotta put minerals back in. some people hook up a charcoal filter system
inline to get rid of other "things" seem to make their fish go down. not everyone's
water is equal. even before adding salt gotta check the water for salt content.
some people on west coast got 0.05% salt in their water already. same goes for
softened water in very alkaline areas.
whenever there is rust take a sniff for hydrogen sulfide, smells like rotten eggs.
out well water was like that, had to put in a bit of PP to correct the H2S before
using it for GF.

its supposed to be cleaner these days but but i happen to know that our
plumbing system is a ticking time bomb due to its age and poor maintanance.
i used to give my dog and cats tap water and i could see rust settle on the
bottom of the bowls specially during the summer.
