I also looked in to building my own tank at one point, though decided
against it. I understood the use of wood to mostly be a cost decision
--- panes of glass thick enough to hold together for really big tanks
would be enormously expensive. If that's the case, I'd say go for it.
Sounds like a great project.

I'd definitely test that sucker out before filling it up in the living
room though! ::-)
