Depends where you'll be. In NY, if you're on Long Island, the best
shop is a place called Magic Isle Aquarium. I know the owners, and
they drive to the city each week to personally pick the highest quality
fish instead of just shipping them in.
In LA, try Yo's Aquarium on Santa Monica Blvd. Not much to look at as
a store, but great fish selection.

I havn't been to LA in 14 years but the Aquarium Stock Company
in Hollywood had the besty eye-candy while Jim's Er^Hxotic Fish
in Manchester was may favorite store. I was there every lunch
hour when I worked around the corner in 88/89.

Keep in mind stores barely make money on fish they make most of
it on dry goods, so the best bargins are likely to be had
from mail order stuff.

When I moved to California I asumed the fish stores would be bigger
and better but that didn't seem to be true. Of New York and LA I
think Toronto has the best fish stores. Of Toronto stores The
Menagerie is by far and away the best. There isn't a fish alive
that Harold can't get for you. I'm pretty jaded and have seen
most every fish around - I thought - every tie I go in there
he's got stuff I've never seen or only see once eevry 10 years.
