I've decided to sell my tank but I don't know how much the stuff is
worth. Can anyone give me a clue? I know how much I paid for it, but it's not nearly worth that . . . I'm planning on getting a few smaller tanks in exchange for the big one. I have a 75 gallon tank with an oak canopy and stand, I have a hamilton lighting system, ballast, 2 110 VHO and 2 halides. I also have two brand new VHOS. I would say the tank and the lighting system are about 3 years old. The halides need replacing, they work but they've not been replaced in about a year. Any ideas? I'm keeping the live rock, animals, filtration, etc. for the small tanks. |

Thanks for the advice but I had a 30 gallon and a 10 gallon tank for
almost 10 years :-) I decided to upgrade based on everyone saying "the tank is so much more stable, easier to maintain" etc and I've REGRETTED it ever since. It's about as stable as the 30 gallon (the 10 gallon was a pain, I admit) and it's a pain in the hiney to take care of (my LFS thinks I'm insane too :-) but I've been there and done that and I know what I prefer). I have too much live rock for a 30 but I'm sure I can find a home for it. My 30 gallon was beautiful and enjoyable. This is a monster that I HATE with a passion. Just seeing it and feeding then fish is a chore (I have to get a freakin' step stool to feed the fish!). I never felt that way before. I don't need that kind of attitude from a tank :-) It's gotten to the point that I had a fish die and I wasn't sad, I was relieved and thinking about being one step closer to draining the tank. At this point, even if I will have to take a loss, I know I'll be happier with a smaller tank. I know I'll enjoy a smaller tank 100 times more. To each his own :-) If a tank becomes a pain in the butt and you hate it, it doesn't matter how stable it is (and I haven't cleaned it in a year and stuff is still kicking so I'm assuming it's pretty stable :-). I'd rather have to monitor it everyday and it be pleasant than to never deal with it and it have my hatred. It's just a big monster and I've decided it has to go. Fishnut wrote in message . .. Amanda, I hope you keep the 75-gall tank, unless you desperately the space. It is much more stable than small tanks, and as you realise, you will only receive peanuts for the equipment. Invest in new bulbs M.O. as the cheapest alternative. Best wishes, Fishnut. |
