My question is do I need to quarantine new fish with or without copper to avoid introducing any Ich into my tank and how long I personally don't blanket medicate. If there is nothing wrong, I don't add anything. Simply holding them for 2 or 3 weeks is usually enough. If you do have ick, recent studies have shown that keeping your fish at lower salinity levels, down as low as 1.012, tends to kill the parasite with no adverse effects to the fish. Fish have been kept at these levels for over a year and are still going strong. Just don't try it with any inverts presents because they won't be able to handle the lower salt levels. |

My question is do I need to quarantine new fish with or without copper to avoid introducing any Ich into my tank and how long I do not medicate nor use hyposalinity unless I see a problem, and I quarantine for four "good weeks". If I see a problem, or have to treat something the clock starts over- they must be healthy in quarantine for four full weeks. -- Toni http://www.cearbhaill.com/reef.htm |
