i KNOW i am getting into trouble with this post, but if your reading it, ive sent it
anyway ![]() even 2 6" clowns are not a bio load problem on a 5gallon tank, there would be no room for the fish, but the bio load isnt the real problemas long as its filters are made both appropriately sized and cycled, to handle it the last part not being a major concern if the fish are acquired small and they grow up in the tank, by that time the filter will have cycled. as its only going to be a 20 and because the end goal seems now to be very fixed and little room for other things like anemones and such, such a tank could be setup with a pair of clowns with a bio wheel, a few lbs of LR and use waterchanges, or other methods to limit nitrates. the lack of inverts will allow some nitrates such that I dont want in my reef, but am happy with in my FO. -- Richard Reynolds "Steve "Srfmon"" wrote in message ... IMO, yes it would accommodate juveniles BUT a full grown clown can reach 4" to 6" depending on the species. So in the long term I'd say no. That's a big bio-load on a small tank. Not all clown fish get that big. I think few do.
Decide what type of fish you want then research it. Then you can decide what suits your tank. ReeFeR_MaN wrote: Anyone ever bought a baby clown and grew it to 6", how many years did it take ? Think those red mushrooms from hell could take over and housebreak my new
puppy??? That's keeping me off the road for awhile. I'll email you about the mushrooms.. At the moment the Prizm is on the 10 gallon.. and an HOB is also on it without the pad.. just for water movement although I put the pad in once in awhile and stir up the crushed coral. I drop in a flake or two every so often to keep the micro critters fed. I think I will keep testing it and if it keeps coming out ok.. will buy new test kits, lol.. Although they show my 55 as ok too and everything is thriving in THAT tank so really have to assume the tests are not faulty. Are the dip strip tests as accurate as adding drops of this and drops of that..? I always worry that I am messing up with all those dang drops and that I am really getting just the right amount of water in the test tube.. I will probably put a damsel in as that is what I'd like to keep in there, just a few. While I hate it when anything dies, they aren't such a hit on the wallet. Teeb |
