Hi, I bought 3 Iris Kermesina plants about 3 years ago and so far - plenty
of leaf but no flowers. They are planted in a 6 inch deep trough and the top of the trough is about 4 inches below the water surface. This is a smallish variety and will grow to about 12 inches above the water. The 'pond' is plastic pre-moulded, 3 feet x 2 feet x 18 inches deep. There is no pump/fountain/filter etc or fish in the pond and most of the other plants have been doing ok. Any ideas please ? Pete |

I would raise the plant up a little in the water. Also, the lack of
fish may mean that there isn't enough fertilizer, unless you also add that. The other plants may just not be as heavy feeders. You don't say what they are, so it's hard to say, but that may be it. I just noticed that you said most of the others are doing fine. Those that aren't may also need a little feeding. Others here may know more, but that's all I can offer, except that if you go on gardenweb.com, there is an iris forum and a UK gardening forum. Someone over there might be able to help if you don't get what you need here. Good luck. I like irises too. |

I was thinking phosphorus too. I remember from my rose days that some plants need quite a bit to flower well. -- __ Elaine T __ __' http://eethomp.com/fish.html '__ rec.aquaria.* FAQ http://faq.thekrib.com |

Also keep in mind, you can't divide iris till after they bloom, otherwise
they may not till the next season. ~ jan ~Power to the Porg, Flow On!~ |
