Located in N. Illinois.
I have a 120 gallon pond. 20 gal upper, waterfall, 100 gal lower pool. Too many fish, they grew..... I know the rule is 1in per 10gal. So I have about five times too many fish. Could not keep the algae under control. Bought a 500gal UV canister filter Nursery Pro Ultra Clean. Problem fixed. I clean it about once every three weeks. The water is crystal clear. Clean the pre-filter about once a week, mainly leaves. Martin |

Just bought a test kit to monitor. Retired so lots of time. Changing
water, no problem. But I agree, soon some will have to find another home..... Martin "Reel Mckoi" wrote in message ... "Quercus Robur" wrote in message ... Located in N. Illinois. Ouch, that rule is for inside aquariums w/tropical fish, not outside set-ups. If we're talking goldfish, with good filtration, it is 20 gallons per fish. Could not keep the algae under control. Bought a 500gal UV canister filter Nursery Pro Ultra Clean. Problem fixed. I clean it about once every three weeks. The water is crystal clear. UV will clear the water, but it won't let you know if that clear water is clean water. Glad to read in later thread that you've purchased tests kits. In particular I hope you got Ammonia, Nitrite, KH & pH, and since you have UV NitrAte also. So what readings are you getting? ~ jan See my ponds and filter design: www.jjspond.us ~Keep 'em Wet!~ Tri-Cities WA Zone 7a To e-mail see website |
