Default live rock/sand

hello,

can I use liverock and sand that I collect from my scuba diving trips to the
gulf in my tank? Will the rock/sand have to be cured even if I leave the
items in sea water the whole time. I am starting a new sw tank and would
like to place sand/rock directly in tank with no other fish.

I would check for any hitch-hiker first and during that time, check if
anything that may leak / roam out of the rock.
Becaution, otherwise just put it in if it does not smell.

You need to find out if that is even legal to do. Some places are not.

with him saying the Gulf, I just assume Florida or Texas, and both places
its not legal to collect rock or sand.

the Persian Gulf is a different story

I think it is the same as saying " shes a little bit pregnant". Try
to explain to a game warden that it came from international waters.
Good luck.
I'm pretty sure Florida and Texas are off limits.
