Default filter recomendation for 30gl L.R. and fish

I've been running the following 30gl setup for about 5 years:

1. 60 lbs of live different rock (no corals)
2. protein skimmer
3. HOT magnum 250 from marineland w/ bio-wheel and cartrige filled with tiny
bio-balls
4. Aqua-Clear 150 for some chemical filtration every once in a while with a
sponge for filtering floating debris
5. power head for water movement

I'll like to do away with the HOt Magnum 250 and get something that would
hold more of a bio load. Can anyone recomend a canister filter or any other
kind of biological filtration?

whatever you decide I would not yank all the bio material all at once,
however you have enough LR that if you add watermovement from a pump
of just about any kind, you will find your LR has the ability to
filter your tank w/o assistance. you can remove the HOT magnum

Another thought would be doing Eco-systems mud filtration. Look at
www.ecosystemaquarium.com.
