I have a small white brittle star - about six inches from tentacle to
tentacle. Will it each my shrimp? My wife is rather attached to the shrimp and would be upset if the star ate it. |

Generally they are reef safe. If you are worried that it will eat other
things in your tank you need to target feed it just so you know that it won't get the urge. But as always yours might have a different idea. Steve "text-mode" wrote in message om... In the land of rec.aquaria.marine.reefs, the word of the Lord came to
text-mode and verily he spoke saying: I have a small white brittle star - about six inches from tentacle to tentacle. Will it each my shrimp? My wife is rather attached to the shrimp and would be upset if the star ate it. My maroon serpent star, which I was told was more docile than a brittle star, killed and ate my blue mandrin goby : ( After that I target fed him chunks of smelt twice a week and he was a good boy. He would always steal the food right out of the mouth of my anemone however so I had to contain him during feeding. I wouldn't get one again. To much hassle. -- -John Because it makes things difficult to understand. Why shouldn't I top post? |

My brown bristle star, who was a cute little two inch creeper when I got
him, and now has a 14 inch wingspan that threatens to outdistance to whole 29 gallon tank, was last seen licking his lips over a new $60 elegance coral. rtk Christ's Soldiers wrote: I have a small white brittle star - about six inches from tentacle to tentacle. I guess I've been lucky so far, I have a nice green serpent star that is
about 6" from one arm tip to the other, and so far he's only gone after the mysis shrimp that eventually gets to the bottom. He hasn't gone after any of my snails or peppermint shrimp (yet). I was informed last night that he is a predator and if there is not enough food for him, then he may go after a fish, shrimp or even a snail. (I could do to loose a couple snails right now, so hopefully that will be what he goes after first if he gets an appetite for live food.) "text-mode" wrote in message om...
