Just arrived in the country a new product unknown to us called an
ecoaqualiser.Any of you using this device which is meant to ionise water molecules.on what ive read it sounds interesting & has anyone had success with this |

![]() malcolms may have written: ecoaqualiser.Any of you using this device which is meant to ionise water molecules. The device is supposed to Magnetize water providing many wonderfull benefits. Unfortunately none of the claims have any basis in scientific fact. In short it is snake-oil. I took the time to track down some of the scientific papers referenced by the makers of the ecoaqualiser. None of the papers supported the claims. |

First of all, seawater is already chock-full of ions and very little you could do electrically would add any significant number of additional ions. Second, which ions might be added by such a device? Are they referring to any of the ions that reefkeepers should manage (ammonium, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, carbonate, bicarbonate, sulfate, borate, silicate, chlorine, sodium)? On the "See How" page, the author states, "...as toxins are added to your tank, water molecules become tightly bonded to each other..." This is purest tripe of the same caliber as that used to sell "Penta" bottled water. A little further down the same page: "As water flows through the ECO chamber, it's bombarded with photons and polarity energies. These combined ionization properties reduce Hydrogen Bonding (2)." Erm, no. Heat and light can break up protein complexes, but most of those complexes are already in a low-toxicity form and are very likely to be picked up and extracted by your skimmer in their current state (A fact which is contrary to their assertion that protein complexes are less likely to be skimmed). Also, very few of the compounds that make up dissolved organic matter in our tanks will be affected by the tiny radiative elements visible in the little Eco Aqualizer tube. Almost any Halide-lit tank probably has a higher radiation density at all frequencies than can be produced in this little toy. The rest of the page contains many more of the same type of unsubstantiated assertion. They claim to be replacing the effect of the earth's magnetic field while conveniently forgetting that our tanks are also located in the earth's magnetic field. Later in the same section, the author mentions carbon dioxide first on a list of toxic gases (lead and mercury also made the list of toxic "gases"). One has to wonder why he forgot to list aragonite and pizza as toxic gases. In another section, it is asserted that water becomes "inactive or unbalanced" without "magnetic energy". Based on the information on the website, this product is equivalent to any number of quack cures for human ailments and seems to share much in concept and marketing to the thoroughly debunked "magnet therapy". This is a sham, snake oil, etc. Keep a hand close to your wallet. Regards, Ross -- Ross Bagley http://rossbagley.com/rba "Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature... "I call bull****."
I will second that :-0 these are very important and everyone needs them and I just recently figured out why. because they stimulate the economy see first everyone buys one, that means that while the conartist is getting his $$$ cut, some dude in a sweetshop somewhere is getting paid, to create and box them, then another guy is getting paid to deliver them to a warehouse, and another guy is getting paid to get the warehouse orders to the shipper, and then money is spent to ship them, so thats $$$ spent on shipping that goes for the mechanics/gas people/delivery ppl ..... then once the reefer figures out they have been hozed, they call someone who is getting paid, then return the product which means more shipping, and because credit cards are being used thats interest for the bank ![]() see its even better than donating because more people get a cut, a crappy cut but its still a cut ![]() -- Richard Reynolds |
