I hate asking this but is there any free software for aquariums/fish

I found 2 programs: Tankminder98 and AquaLog. Beggar's can't be too choosey, so guess I will try these and see how they work. The site I found them at (in case anybody is interested) is: http://fins.actwin.com/software.php Again, thanks. Mike |

Aquarix is pretty good. It's shareware, but if you can put up with a
30 second nag screen after 30 days, you don't *have* to pay for it. www.aquarix.com Cris On Wed, 10 Sep 2003 08:46:35 -0600, Mike Endsley wrote: I hate asking this but is there any free software for aquariums/fish logging? I have seen the aquarix site, but stayed away since I didn't have the money to "register". I may take a look and see how it is. I am trying AquaLog right now. Mike |

but access is limited by the same wizards you are using... if you just use a
canned dbase, it'll end up needing more work than it's worth.... I'm a DBA, using access and SQL, I've made several, but none really end up the way I want them, the forms, reports, and modules just don't seem to satisfy my desires... which may be my own problem, and not yours... "D&M" wrote in message ... Are you any good with MS access? I've set up a couple databases storing photos and other info for things, the wizards it comes with can pretty much walk you through it all, about 1-2 hour learning curve for a simple logging database. I ask because I do not have Windows on my machine ... so downloading even a freebie is of no real use to me. OTOH, I _do_ have PHP, MySql, perl and java ... so designing and coding "GnuFish" might be fun. BTW, OpenOffice does include a spreadsheet -- entering and graphing water parameters is relatively straight forward if that is all you wish to do. Please throw some ideas at me as to what a decent aquarium maintenance software would do! -Dennis |

I really thought about trying that also, but decided to ask about software first. I personally don't know what all people use since I have been away from this hobby for about 35 years ![]() I saw a couple of programs that would graph all the info and then also keep reminding you what day something needed to be done (water changes/tests/etc). I am unemployed so I am trying AquaLog which is basically a text oriented program. I d/led another program but haven't installed it yet. It is supposed to have more bells/whistles. The programs I have looked at (not many) have inputs for all the tests you run, observations, a calendar, water changes and percents, multiple tank inputs, etc. I'm quite sure other programs have much more than I have listed ![]() Hopefully, others will expand the list ![]() Mike |
