red cap update/question

Ok, I posted before about the red caps pectoral fin, I noticed a week or so
ago that it was stuck to his side, I guess best description is clamped, but
the individual fins looked as if they were stuck together as in clump, kind
of like when you get something stuck in your hair.

It had a lot of good info about goldfish (applies to other fish also) but I
spent two days reading through it trying to see if I could dx this red cap,
was not able to, I am still not sure what it was, but I had started doing
salt dips once a day for 5 minutes 2 -2 1/2 tsp a gl, after I was done salt
dipping, I would put him back in the main tank and add melafix, which if it
did not help it did not hurt either, he is now using it more often, it does
not look as if its stuck together anymore, still a little thick.
None of the other fish showed any signs of being sick, nor has he,, they are
all still eating and going about their business, I was wondering if there
would be any way to put something directly on his pectoral fin, I know when
you use peroxide or Neosporin everyone says to stay away from their gills,
so I guess you could not put something on the pectoral fin with out getting
it on the gills, right.
