Sal****er backyard pond ?

Anybody came up with an idea to build a fish pond but to fill
it with salt water instead of freshwater ? What animals/plants
would fit nicely such a sal****er body in Wisconsin/Chicago area ?

I have thought about that myself..I sure wish there was a way for me
to turn at least one of my outside ponds into a sal****er
afair.......How much salt would I need fo a pond of 1.68 million gal ?
Slat would be the cheap end of it though, just imagine how much live
rock I would need...

I've done that with 33 gallon containers for raising brine
shrimp, and will be doing that with a pond liner soon. The
problems you will face is extreme salinity changes, and
lots of nutrients. Brine shrimp hold up well with this,
but doing a nice salt water fish pond could be a real
challenge.

Where the "nutrients" are coming from ?

Where I live (Chicago area) it would be extra-challenge
due to extreme temperature swings between winter-summer.

From the yard. Bugs and other creatures falling in the
water, grass clipping, leaves. With a fresh water pond you
can have sizable plants growing in and out of the water to
help with nutrient export. With a fresh water pond you
will have muck that quickly builds up at the bottom of the
pond. This is not so bad in a fresh water pond, but
imagine that in a salt water pond. It would be fun to try
though. I got my brine shrimp pond partly dug over the
weekend. The water in that will be 3 times as salty as the
ocean.
