Hm.., there are more than four infected (er affected) groups..

What happened?

Well an exodus but a lot of fishy folks changed to TFA - The Freshwater
Aquarium, a Google group on internet. On the one hand spam-free threads,
nice people, active discussions but on the other hand a very poor G2 user
interface..

Was there a major reorg that my ISP didn't
implement?

Moderated groups..?

BTW: Look rpm (rec.ponds.moderated) is doing well..

I miss some of the people at TFA, but I just can't follow the
discussions there. As you say, the user interface is a hindrance.

I find Google groups awful and don't post on any of them. I stick to Usenet.

Google interface, yes, different from Usenet, somewhere between
the forum boilerplate and Usenet. I've gotten used to it (Google).
It does have some useful features like files areas, imbedded graphics,
etc. The content & flow of the conversations in TFA are very much
like here though, or what here used to be like. For me, that makes up
for the differences.

It's 'moderated', but it really isn't. Other than deleting the
obvious porn posts and banning the posters who left them, TFA still
feels very Usenet, and that's not an accident and should not be a
surprise. TFA's organization and management (or lack of ;~) is by
Usenet people who liked Usenet just the way it was.

Anyways, not trying to sell TFA on anyone. It's nice to see rafm
looking better.
cheers
