I have a MF for few month already, and its been a nice addition to my fish
tank. I am looking to add another cichlids (south americans) than can share
the same tank. I was reading about rams, I would appreciate any feed back
about rams, and if it is any of htese rams better than others (in terms of
sociability and size)

Thanks!

rams are a bit small, and I'm not 100% sure, but not entirely SA cichlid...

I've always liked Severums, hardy, stout and can hold their own....

they 'may' be aggresive towards their own, or similar sized fish, but not
like a red devil or a jack dempsey.. on the scale, the severums are the
least aggresive... I've only had 2, and one beat the other up and was given
a new home, the other, never harrased anyone until they became the same
size...

Well, if i want to combine my MF with severum.....how agressive can get
against my MF? Is it better to get 2 severum?

If you can get a severum that is close in size, it will probably hold it's
own, and not be overly aggresive toward your MF, of course, they will fight
some to make a pecking order, and when that is settled, MF will be on top,
Severum will gladly be 2nd or wherever in the chain, but won't back down
much after the heirarchy has been set... they are tough not mean.. there is
a difference...

I have a single festivum together with four Severums. They rarely
even notice one another. Festivums are rather unusual for cichlids
in that they are surface dwelling fish; since most cichlids are
bottom dwelling, festivums usually do not directly compete for
territory with other South American cichlids.

Meph

Default Mesonauta Festivum+rams

Finally i have decided to go with blue rams. My M Festivum doesnt bother
them, and they are taking care of the bottom of my tank. They are sharing
the tank with also rasboras, neon and rummy nose. SO far so good

Thanks
