Thanks for the tips and answers on my question about paint. The reason for
my reappearance here, is that we finally put in the new pond to improve the drawbacks to the big pond that was losing the green water battle. It was too full of koi to keep any lilies or anacharis going. They chewed up any submerged plants so fast, we couldn't keep it supplied. And, we couldn't shield it from the sun in any way that was attractive and effective. So, we decided to build a new pond for the koi, in a location that could be shaded, and we will have plants and gf in the one out front. I have been wanting to separate the two kinds of fishes for a while, anyway. I will have pictures up when I get these downloaded. Oh! and since it's still plenty warm around here, the two koi that we moved into the new tank are doing the spawning thing now, too. I think they get frisky in new surroundings. The presumed girlkoi is being chased constantly and she bailed a little while ago. Luckily I was outside and heard her hit the tarp that was lying on the ground next to the tank. She was pretty hard to grab hold of, but I managed to do it. Now I have dirt and sand in my new pond, because it was stuck to her. Oh well, better than a dead ten inch kohaku. More to come..... |

Thanks to photobucket, I will finally put up some pics of the two ponds.
go he http://photobucket.com/albums/v176/Ann_in_Houston/ Scroll down to the thumbnails, and do the slide show. Hope you like it. The new pond is behind the garage that is seen in the picture of the rectangular pond. If you walk off of the porch, to the right (as you see it in the pic) there is an area that will eventually be a sweet little patio/courtyard from which to enjoy the new pond.
